Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
Region: France, Burgundy, Côtes de Nuits
Scents of black pepper, pure cherry and currant are joined by flavors of berry fruit, spice and mineral here. Firm, yet balanced and juicy, with a lingering aftertaste.
The 7 ha hillside vineyard sits between 350 m - 390 m with southeast exposures that overlooks the valley and the Cistercian Abbey of Lieu-Dieu des Champs. The Gros family cleared the land in 1976 and planted 4 ha of Pinot Noir from 1981-1986 and 3 ha of Chardonnay in 1987. These plantings were completed with the last plot 1 hectare, acquired in 2007 and replanted in 2009. The soil of limestone and marl is mixed with Oxfordian clay (Jurassic period). Each plot is vinified separately and blended before bottling.
